  • The joint conference will cover all theoretical and experimental aspects of nonlinear optical spectroscopy and microscopy. Topics covered include, but are not limited to, Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Scattering (CARS) spectroscopy and microscopy, other forms of nonlinear optical responses in the time and frequency domain, and investigations of the physical and chemical processes defining the spectral signatures in different nonlinear media. Contributions on emerging analytical techniques and on their applications in biomedical research, material science, and engineering are particularly welcomed.

In order to foster new cross-disciplinary collaborations in the highly active area of nonlinear optical microscopy, presentations of new scientific results will be complemented by tutorials. The main goal of these tutorials is to provide PhD-students and Postdocs starting in the emerging field of nonlinear optical microscopy with the basic background of nonlinear optics in general and CARS microscopy in particular. These tutorials will be given by experts in the respective fields.

The meeting is organized in cooperation with the European Union COST action MP0603 "Chemical imaging by means of CARS microscopy (microCARS)".

We look forward to seeing you in May 2008 in Igls.

General Chairs:

Monika Ritsch-Marte, Innsbruck Medical University, Austria (ECONOS 2008)

Andreas Volkmer, University of Stuttgart, Germany (microCARS 2008)

Andreas Zumbusch, University of Konstanz, Germany (microCARS 2008).
