Scope of microCARS 2008:

The microCARS 2008 conference will be the first international expert meeting organized by the recently established EU-COST action MP0603 titled "Chemical imaging by means of CARS-microscopy (MicroCARS)". The main objective of this initiative is to ascertain scientific exchange between European experts that have already significantly contributed or will participate in the further development and application of CARS microscopy. Accordingly, microCARS 2008 seeks to stimulate innovative, interdisciplinary and broad scientific collaborations in the emerging field of CARS microscopy. Though an EU-funded scientific network, participation in the "microCARS 2008" meeting is open for all interested researchers, worldwide. We encourage the submission of scientific contributions that intend to bring CARS microscopy to the next technological level . Furthermore, contributions that report the realization of compelling applications of CARS microscopy in the material and life sciences, thus exemplifying its full potential, will be particularly welcomed.

Following up on the huge success of last year's first European CARS microscopy workshop held in Valencia, Spain, on April 10 2007 Spain, which was jointly organized with FOM 2007 by Michiel Mueller (U. Amsterdam), we will organize the second series of Tutorials on CARS microscopy on Sunday, May 25 2008, prior to the start of the actual "microCARS 2008" conference. The main goal of these tutorials is to provide PhD-students and Postdocs starting in the emerging field of nonlinear optical microscopy with the basic background of nonlinear optics in general and CARS microscopy in particular. These tutorials will be given by experts in the respective fields.
